Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh On the urgency to recognize the independence of the Republic of Artsakh Starting from September 27, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with the support of terrorist organizations from Turkey and the Middle East, have unleashed an aggressive war against the Artsakh Republic. The large-scale armed attack of Azerbaijan on the Artsakh Republic is accompanied by serious violations of the norms of international humanitarian law, as well as the laws and customs applied during armed conflicts. In particular, the Azerbaijani-Turkish armed groups deliberately shell the cities, villages, and the civilian objects of Artsakh, in order to intimidate and destroy the civilian population. As a result of their criminal actions, there are many victims among the civilian population. We welcome the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, and the international community in general, to immediately end Azerbaijan’s military aggression and reduce tensions. At the same time, we note that all the demands and calls of the international community are arrogantly rejected by the triple alliance of Turkey, Azerbaijan and the terrorist organizations. We call on the international community to recognize the independence of the Artsakh Republic in order to ensure the right to live and peaceful development for the citizens of Artsakh. In the current situation, the international recognition of Artsakh is the only functioning mechanism for restoring peace and security in the region.
