An Open Letter to the US and EU Countries Ambassadors in Georgia

Dear Ambassadors,

Nagorno-Karabakh has been under siege by Azerbaijan for more than three months, the Lachin corridor connecting Armenia is closed. It is the only way for the 120,000 Armenian population to communicate with the outside world.

For more than three months, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh have been facing inhuman torture, with a serious lack of food and medicine.

Calls to unblock the Lachin Corridor were made by the US State Department, as well as by the EU Parliament and a number of European countries, but Azerbaijan did not obey and ignored all similar calls.

Azerbaijan even dared to ignore the decision of the International Court of the United Nations in The Hague, by which that country was obliged to open the Lachin Corridor, according to the points of the tripartite declaration.

Despite these difficult conditions in which the people of Nagorno-Karabakh found themselves, Azerbaijan not only did not abandon its policy, but also resorted to terrorist activities in order to carry out ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.

On March 5, the Azerbaijan side carried out a subversive penetration attempt on the Stepanakert-Lisagor road into Nagorno-Karabakh and killed three local police officers.

Apart from that, the authorities of Azerbaijan, in order to spread dust in the eyes of the international community, undertook a false imitation of negotiations with Nagorno-Karabakh, during which, instead of discussing ways to resolve the conflict with the representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh, they presented an actual ultimatum to the representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh saying “Either integrate or leave Karabakh.” . This ultimatum was followed by the massive accumulation of troops around Nagorno-Karabakh, which, according to many Armenian experts, could turn into a new war and ethnic cleansing.

There is a high probability that this aggressive behavior of Azerbaijan is dictated by the north and aims to solve several issues at once with a new war, from the seizure of Syunik to the discrediting of EU observers in Armenia and the destruction of Armenian democracy, which will allow Moscow to form a new authoritarian regime similar to Azerbaijan in our region.

After all, according to their calculations, Armenia may also be involved in a possible new war against the people of Nagorno Karabakh, which cannot allow the genocide of Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh. That is why, on behalf of our organization, a decision was made to appeal to you, dear ambassadors, so that you once again draw the attention of your officials dealing with our region to the danger of a new war, genocide and ethnic cleaning.

We are sure that in today’s conditions, your countries have all the political levers and means to curb the aggressive behavior of Azerbaijan and prevent a new war and genocide.

It is much better to try to prevent the genocide than to sympathize with the Armenian people for a new tragedy.
