On 7-8 May 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski, together with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, organised an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in the Gymnich formula in Warsaw.
The meeting was also attended by British Foreign Minister David Lammy and ministers from candidates and potential candidates counties.
On first day of the meeting an Informal discussion on key issues in EU relations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland took place.
During the session of the second day, discussions were held on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, on EU-US relations and European foreign and security policy, in particular building resilience to hybrid threats.
Host Minister Sikorski also led a meeting for candidates and potential candidates – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Kosovo.
At the conference summarizing the meeting, the High Representative spoke about the conditions of negotiations with Russia and support for Ukraine. Kaja Kallas also referred to the participation of European leaders in the parade in Moscow.
Meetings of this type have been held regularly since 1974, and their purpose is an informal and open discussion among ministers on strategic topics.
