Kremlin disputes Trump’s analogy of Ukraine conflict as kids’ brawl

Russia disagrees with US President Donald Trump’s analogy of the Ukraine conflict as a kids’ brawl, emphasizing that it concerns Russia’s vital national interests and security, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a news briefing, TASS reports.

“Naturally, the US president may have his point of view. But for us, this is an existential matter that concerns our security interests, and the future of us and our children,” Peskov argued. “This is exactly why the special military operation is being conducted after all opportunities of resolving issues through political and diplomatic means all have been exhausted,” he added.

Namely, political and diplomatic solutions were exhausted after the West had dismissed all Russian initiatives, Peskov stressed. “What is happening holds precisely this meaning for us,” he maintained.

“Sometimes you’re better off letting them fight for a while and then pulling them apart,” Trump said at a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office on Thursday, as he compared the Ukraine conflict to two young children fighting “like crazy.”
