The Conservative Movement party, founded by Alt-Info, plans to open an office in Akhaltsikhe, Zurab Makharadze, one of the founders of the party, confirmed the information.
According to him, the office will be officially opened in the near future, and preliminary work is currently underway.
Before the party officially opens an office in the region and starts communicating with potential voters, we were interested in how local representatives of political parties would evaluate the decision of the Conservative Movement, especially in a region inhabited by national minorities. Because ATL-Info has repeatedly come across fact-checkers as a broadcaster of Russian propaganda and disinformation.
The representative of the local Lelo office Manuchar Chachanidze calls the party “Putin’s”.
“I think that this is the weakness of the state, specifically the emergence of such parties, about which party you are specifically asking about, is Putin’s party, and all this is confirmed by the actions of this party,” says Manuchar Chachanidze.
David Akhalkatsi, a United National Movement MP in the Akhaltsikhe Sakrebulo, told us that the parties have a similar idea. They can start working with representatives of national minorities, since one of the sources of income for Armenians from an ethical point of view is Russia.
“It could be very dangerous for our country. If our society allows, it is possible that in a few years the Kremlin party United Russia will be created and opened here in our country.” One of the sources of income for ethnic minorities in our region is Russia. Therefore, they probably use all means to work for such voters.”
“The main thing is not to go beyond the constitutional framework,” said Maka Beridze, representative of European Georgia.
“As a voter, this is unpleasant and unacceptable for me, because we know who is behind this and how much bad they can do, but as a representative of the party, I can say that we are a democratic country and everyone can create a party and work. I don’t think they will be able to spread misinformation because many organizations are already working in the field of media literacy, but the danger is still there.”
Mayor of Akhaltsikhe Irakli Lazarashvili has no information about the party and cannot give an assessment.
“I don’t have information, I know their goals and visions so I can’t comment.”
Recall that Alt-Info is associated with the facts of violence on July 5-6, the heads of the broadcaster called on activists to violence, spreading hate speech.
Alt-Info has repeatedly come across in fact-checking polls as a distributor of Russian propaganda and disinformation.
