Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to adopt a more flexible approach and discuss the terms of negotiations with Russia and end the war, Bloomberg reported, citing officials familiar with the negotiations between the Ukrainian president and Western leaders.
Publicly, Zelensky continues to insist on the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and rules out negotiations over the occupied territories, but Ukrainian officials have made it clear that they are ready to accept the need to end the war and adopt a “more flexible” position.
According to one of the interlocutors of the agency, the “victory plan” proposed by Zelensky in September received a cold reception in Washington, and the Western allies increased the pressure on Kyiv to present a more concrete scenario. The situation at the front, difficulties related to financing and the upcoming election of the president in the United States prompt Ukraine’s allies to “consider more carefully the possibility of ending the conflict through negotiations,” Bloomberg reports.
