Russian tennis player of Armenian descent Karen Khachanov (20th in the world) qualified for the round of 16 of the Australian Open by beating American Frances Tiafoe (17th), semi-finalist of the last US Open, 6-3, 6-4 , 3-6, 7-6 (11/9) Friday in Melbourne.
