At the end of February, representatives of the Red Cross visited the former officials of Nagorno-Karabakh detained in Azerbaijan.
Zara Amatuni, head of communication programs of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Armenia, told ‘Lurer’ that they met separately, conditions were created for contact with their families.
At the end of February, ICRC (International Committee of Red Cross) representatives again visited all the Armenian detainees notified by the Azerbaijani authorities. The detainees were met in private and were given the possibility to exchange family news, ICRC Armenia reports in X (Twitter).
According to its mandate, during such visits, the ICRC assesses the treatment of detainees and conditions of detention and helps to ensure that the detained individuals can restore or maintain contact with their families.
As per the ICRC’s procedures, the observations and recommendations related to its visits are only shared with the detaining authorities.
