The Armenian Foreign Ministry mentioned the victims of the Maragha pogroms on its X page.
“On this day, 32 years ago pogroms against Armenians in town of Maragha in Nagorno-Karabakh became yet another part of Azerbaijan’s policy of ethnic cleansing. More than 50 civilians were brutally killed, as many were taken captive, the rest of Armenian population of around 5000 was forcibly displaced. It has been documented in reports of human rights orgs such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.
We pay tribute to memory of innocent victims and stress imperative to prevent such policies,” the statement reads.
