COP29 in Baku is also an opportunity to work for a brighter future in the Southern Caucasus: Foreign Ministry of Germany


The German Foreign Ministry has summarized the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Berbock and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, which took place yesterday in Berlin.
 
Aliyev was in Germany to attend the high-level meeting of the 15th St. Petersburg Climate Dialogue and was also received by Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
 
According to the statement of the Foreign Ministry, the 29th session of the Conference of Participants of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Azerbaijan in November, opens the door to new opportunities for the future of the entire South Caucasus and the region.
 
“COP29 in Baku is also an opportunity to work for a brighter future in the Southern Caucasus. A peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan is key. On the sidelines of  Petersberg 2024, Annalena Baerbock spoke again with President Aliyev about concrete steps forward,” the statement of the German Foreign Office reads.
