On June 26, members of the Armenian community of Akhaltsikhe, led by Editor-in-Chief of akhaltskha.net electronic newspaper Eduard Ayvazyan and Friar Hakob Sahakyan, were hosted at the Ministry of Diaspora. Among the attendees of the meeting was Arsen Kharatyan, Advisor to Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
Greeting the guests, Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan stated that the heroic battle of Akhaltsikhe in 1918 is one of the things that the Armenian people takes pride in, while the millennial bible of Tsughrut is a vivid symbol of ‘Armenianness’. The Minister of Diaspora touched upon the existing educational and cultural issues and emphasized that they will always be in focus. Mkhitar Hayrapetyan also talked about the new “Take a Step Towards Home” educational-cognitive program of the Ministry of Diaspora to be held through a transitional stage from 10 to 24 August of this year.
Advisor to the Prime Minister Arsen Kharatyan stated that the Armenians of Georgia serve as a bridge in the relations between Georgia and Armenia.
The spiritual superintendent of Akhaltsikhe expressed his current concerns and voiced hope for closer collaboration.
Issues related to Armenian language textbooks and methodical books and training courses for Armenian language and literature teachers were discussed during the meeting. Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan stressed that the existing issues would be solved through cooperation with the Georgian counterparts.
