The joint gas project between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is continuing successfully and gas transit is planned to be increased, said Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a briefing during his state visit to Tashkent.
“The Russia-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan gas project is showing successful results. We plan to increase the volume of gas transit through joint efforts. In addition, there are good prospects for expanding cooperation in the oil and nuclear industries,” President of Kazakhstan noted.
Recall that in June 2023, Uzbekistan signed a gas purchase agreement with Gazprom, and supplies began in October of that year. On October 16 of this year, the Russian government announced that Gazprom had fulfilled the contract for the supply of 7.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Uzbekistan per year.
