The meeting addressed current and potential areas of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union in the customs sector. In particular, the participants discussed prospects for cooperation with the EU through the implementation of customs-related programs, issues concerning the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure (CTC) and the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS), as well as the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) scheme, among other matters.

As part of his working visit, the SRC chairman also met with Guo Xueyang, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation at the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China. The meeting focused on the development of bilateral customs cooperation, particularly in the areas of exchanging advance electronic data and mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operator programs.

The Armenian side stated that it preferred to move forward with the direct bilateral exchange of advance electronic data on goods and vehicles. The parties discussed the finalization of an agreement on the mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operator programs and preparations for its signing. The Armenian side reported that domestic procedures were nearly complete and expressed its readiness to proceed with signing the document.
