Iran’s FM announces indirect high-level talks with US on Saturday in Oman

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced early Tuesday that Iran and the United States will meet in Oman on Saturday for indirect high-level talks.

“It is as much an opportunity as it is a test. The ball is in America’s court,” Araghchi commented in a post on X.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the US will have ‘a very big meeting’ with Iran on Saturday. As he said, the talks will be conducted directly with Iran.

He told reporters from the Oval Office, “we’re dealing with them directly. You know, a lot of people say, oh, maybe you’re going through surrogates or you’re not dealing directly. You’re dealing through other countries. No we’re dealing with them directly, and maybe a deal is going to be made. That would be great. That would be it would be really great for Iran, I can tell you that. But hopefully we’re not going to have to get into that.”
