Rubio says he plans to visit five Central Asian states in coming year


Reuters. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met foreign ministers from five Central Asian states on Wednesday (November 5), saying that he planned to visit their countries in the coming year.
 
The presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are set to meet U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday (November 6) for talks that are likely to include discussions of rare earths minerals and other resources in the Central Asian nations.
 
 “I personally intend to visit in the coming year,” Rubio told a reception for the country’s foreign minister’s at the State Department.
 
“All five (countries),” he added, “so I know it would probably be a weeklong trip. So we’ve got to work on that and make that happen together”.
