At the AK Party Extended Provincial Chairs Meeting, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan strongly condemned what he described as unlawful agreements involving Israel, Greece, and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Cyprus.
While stating that Turkey would not be drawn into provocations, Erdoğan stressed that it would never allow the rights of the people living in northern Cyprus to be “usurped”.
Referring to Israel’s actions in Gaza, he said that those “with the blood of more than 70,000 Palestinians on their hands” had no moral standing, in his opinion, and such remarks were meaningless in Turkey’s eyes.
Earlier The leaders of Israel, Cyprus and Greece on Monday (December 22) held a joint press conference in Jerusalem where they reiterated their commitment to cooperation in order to achieve stability in the region and beyond.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had agreed to deepen security cooperation with Greece and Cyprus.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides emphasized cooperation in the fields of connectivity, energy and security.
Mitsotakis also said that his country will embrace an opportunity to play a role in the ‘Day after’ in the Gaza Strip, should one emerge.
Netanyahu also said the three countries intended to advance the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, an initiative to connect India to Europe via the Middle East by sea and rail.
When Netanyahu was asked by a reporter about Iran, he said that Israel was aware that Iran was conducting exercises and sent a warning to Tehran.
Earlier on Monday, the three leaders held private meetings as well as extended meetings with their delegations as part of the 10th trilateral summit of Israel, Greece, and Cyprus.
