Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan sent note of protest to EU Ambassador

European Union Ambassador to Baku Peter Michalko was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
 
“A note of protest was sent to him in connection with the adoption of the resolution by the European Parliament on October 24, and the baseless and biased statements made by the European Commissioner within the framework of the discussions held in that structure were strongly condemned,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
 
The department accused the EU institutions of “defamatory campaign against Azerbaijan”.
 
Earlier, the European Parliament adopted the “Resolution on the situation in Azerbaijan, violation of human rights and international law and relations with Armenia”. MEPs condemned Baku for violating human rights and international law. They also reaffirmed the demand to withdraw the Azerbaijani troops from the entire sovereign territory of Armenia, at the same time called on Azerbaijan to respect the territorial integrity of Armenia, emphasized that the problems of Azerbaijan’s connection with Nakhijevan should be resolved with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia.
