Russian overnight strikes kill 6 in and around Kyiv, Ukraine says

Reuters. Russian missile and drone attacks in and around the Ukrainian capital Kyiv killed six people, officials said on Wednesday (October 22).

Two people were killed in Kyiv, while four, including two children, died in the aftermath of Russian strikes on the surrounding region, Ukraine’s emergency service said on Wednesday.

Handout video released on Wednesday by Ukrainian emergency services showed firefighters hosing buildings on fire and conducting rescue operations in Kyiv and Brovary, which is in the Kyiv region. Reuters was not able to independently verify the location and date of the video.

Ukrainian officials said the attacks ran through most of the night and early Wednesday, initially with ballistic missiles and subsequently drone strikes. There was no immediate comment from Russia.
