Honorable Ambassador,
On April 24, Armenians living in different parts of the world remembered the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide planned and carried out by the Ottoman Empire in 1915. 106 years have passed since that tragedy, but to this day Turkey has refused to recognize the genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire, which means that today’s Turkey is also an accomplice to the genocide committed in the past. Moreover, what happened in Artsakh in the fall of 2020 was a continuation of the genocidal policy, which has not changed in modern Turkey so far. Yes, it was Turkey that together with Azerbaijan and mercenary terrorists carried out new atrocities against the Armenian population of Artsakh, which we witness from many cruel videos. That is why US President Joe Biden’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide was great importance not only for the restoration of historical justice, but also for restraining Turkey’s aggressive policy and preventing future atrocities. We are convinced that by recognizing the fact of the Genocide, the United States made the planet safer so that the atrocities of 1915 will not be repeated anywhere in the world. Honorable Ambassador, we will never forget how your country extended its helping hand to tens of thousands of Armenians who survived the Genocide, including thousands of orphans, unhappy women and lonely old people. The Armenian people are grateful to US President Joe Biden, as well as to both houses of the US Congress, for recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide, and hope that the United States, along with other civilized nations, will never again allow a new genocide to take place in any country.
