Reuters. A Russian strike hit residential buildings in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on Thursday (July 30), leaving at least 20 people injured and prompting a major rescue operation.
Rescuers carried a boy from the upper floors of a heavily damaged apartment block before medics took him away on a stretcher.
Residents watched as emergency crews searched through rubble and climbed ladders to extinguish fires burning in damaged residential buildings.
One resident said the boy had been in bed with his father on the fifth floor when the strike hit.
A university teacher being treated near a damaged building said she was struck by shrapnel after a second explosion erupted during firefighting efforts.
Rescue workers said several people suffered shrapnel wounds and other injuries, while crews continued clearing debris as authorities searched for three people reported missing.

In Lviv, close to Poland, rescue workers were scrambling to clear away rubble to reach those trapped after Russian missiles damaged two apartment buildings and injured 15, officials said.
