Reuters. Ukrainian troops and engineers will train their Polish counterparts in a joint group on tackling drones, Ukraine’s defence minister said on Thursday (September 18).
The initiative will integrate new military technology to protect people and critical infrastructure, Ukrainian defence minister Denys Shmyhal said at a news briefing with his Polish counterpart Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
He added that Ukraine would also share software to help Poland detect Russian aerial attacks that could be aimed at Poland.
Kosiniak-Kamysz called the partnership vital for NATO’s and EU’s eastern flank, adding that it would involve armed forces, research institutions and the defence industries from both countries.
His visit to Kyiv came a week after a Russian drone incursion on Poland’s territory in which Warsaw, backed by aircraft from other NATO members, shot down several of the 19 drones that entered its airspace.
