Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Moscow’s proposal to establish a ceasefire on May 9. According to the Ukrainian President, Russia simply wants to hold a peaceful military parade. In his opinion, Moscow may also try to use the ceasefire to lift some anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, during which the Russian president proposed to establish a ceasefire on Victory Day. However, the Kremlin later announced that Putin had not yet made a final decision on the terms of the ceasefire.
Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had not yet received any official or unofficial proposals from Moscow or Washington. He added that Kyiv is always ready to respond positively to proposals for a ceasefire.
